Immerse yourself in the fiery, tangy soul of Goa’s coastline with Karma’s Fresh Prawn Balchao. This 215-gram jar captures a cherished culinary tradition introduced to Goa by the Portuguese during colonization, where fresh prawns are transformed into a spicy and sour pickle-like delicacy.

Balchao holds deep significance in Goan homes—traditionally prepared during the monsoon months when fishermen could not venture out to sea, this vinegar-based preservation ensured that the flavours of the coast could be enjoyed year-round . Made with fresh prawns in a dark red, fiery tomato-chilli sauce, each spoonful delivers the perfect sweet-hot-sour balance that defines authentic Goan seafood cooking.

Our ready-to-eat pickle honours this legacy, saving you hours of preparation while preserving every layer of its complex, piquant profile. Serve with hot boiled rice or crusty bread and let Karma transport you to a Goan kitchen where the scent of spice and vinegar evokes memories of festive feasts and lazy afternoons by the Arabian Sea.
